Graduate Student Workshop: The Future of Scholarly Communication

As media-rich authoring grows more prevalent, and as the traditional publishing industry continues to shrink, what are the emerging options for first time authors? And how are libraries facing the challenges to make a broader array of scholarly projects available? This session, part of The Future of Digital Scholarship workshop series for USC graduate students, explores the world of scholarly communication as it meets 21st century technologies.

The Future of Digital Scholarship workshop series for graduate students offers an overview of digital scholarship, digital humanities and new directions in technology-enhanced teaching and learning, with a hands-on component designed to unite theory and practice. The lab-based workshops will touch on the ways in which research, publishing and scholarly interaction are shifting, sketching the conceptual, intellectual and pedagogical contexts, and offering guidance on how to use specific tools and applications, with the goal of helping graduate students prepare for a future in academia.

Co-sponsored by USC’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, the Center for Transformative Scholarship and the Center for Scholarly Technology.
