Faculty Workshop:The USC Shoah Foundation Institute’s Visual History Archive

The USC Shoah Foundation Institute’s Visual History Archive is a unique resource for USC faculty and students: nearly 52,000 digitized, videotaped interviews with Holocaust survivors and other witnesses in 32 languages and from 56 countries. This workshop will introduce attendees to the archive’s search interface, which uses cataloging and indexing data to mine over 100,000 hours of interviews — down to the very minute that a person, place, or experience is being described. This workshop will also train attendees to use the Mpeg Download Tool in order to download the testimonies and incorporate them into projects and presentations.
Led by: Amy Beisel (Shoah Foundation Institute) and Matthew Williams (Institute for Multimedia Literacy)
Level: Beginner
