USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and the 5D Institute present The City and the Book, a two-evening event that brings together architects, designers, authors and world builders to share innovative ideas about building the narrative of the city; the evolving, dynamic development of a multi-authored spatial story; the promise and excitement of a dynamic ‘page’ where reader becomes user; and the design and engineering of a new genus of disruptive storytelling.

The event begins Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m with an introduction by Alex McDowell and Tracy Fullerton, followed by two panel discussions about hybrid spaces, new narratives and architects as storytellers. On Friday, Scott Fisher and Jen Stein introduce the evening, which will include panels devoted to new story architectures and story spaces, with a panel moderated by the IML’s Holly Willis. A reception concludes each evening.
